Since the launch of its first satellite OHSUMI, ISAS (including its forerunner) has launched satellites, sounding rockets and balloons to unravel the mysteries of space, the solar system and earth. The efforts of ISAS have produced a number of remarkable missions, contributed to the progress of world space science and forged groups of high-level space research scientists in Japan.
